Let’s Talk Safe, Natural Makeup!

I think it’s safe to say that you’ve probably heard about harmful chemicals being used in many of the personal care products we use on a daily basis. What’s so scary about this industry is that no premarket safety testing is required for the industrial chemicals that go into personal care products or the chemical industry as a whole. “What’s worse is that the Food and Drug Administration (the agency that regulates cosmetics in the United States) allows companies to use chemicals known to be extremely harmful in the products we put on our bodies and on our kids’ bodies every single day, day after day, and to make their own judgments about safety.”* Um, freaky!

That’s why I’ve become a little bit of a snob when it comes to the products I’m slathering all over my body (and especially my little ones’ bodies). And that also includes my cosmetics. My favorite safe makeup line is Jane Iredale. Here are a few of my favorite products:

  • GLOW TIME® FULL COVERAGE MINERAL BB CREAM – it’s my moisturizer, SPF, and foundation all-in-one! I’m absolutely in love with this product! However, if you don’t care for the dewy, full-coverage look, you probably won’t be a fan of it. Luckily, they make it super simple to find your foundation and the color matching is pretty spot on.
  • PUREPRESSED® BASE MINERAL FOUNDATION – this is probably the best mineral pressed powder I’ve ever tried! Any they’re absolutely right by describing it as a “weightless sheer matte foundation…a look that’s just like your own skin, only better.”
  • PUREGLOSS® LIP GLOSS – my favorite lip gloss to date! It’s long-lasting and not sticky, like so many other lip glosses on the market! And the color selection is just beautiful!

The prices may seem a bit high in comparison to well-known (toxic) cosmetic lines out there, but it’s totally worth it in my opinion! Especially considering how long the products last! Slowly, I am replacing all of my makeup with Jane Iredale cosmetics! Next on the list – mascara! Ahh, I’ll feel so much better once all of my makeup is safe!
